This is just a disgusting story all around. 41 year-old Rhonda Shoffner was sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to strangulation, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say that back in March of this year, a drunk Shoffner attacked her pre-teen daughter while she was on her knees in the bathroom reciting Bible verses. When her daughter made a mistake, Shoffner grabbed her head and slammed it into a wall five times. She also bit and choked her daughter during the attack.
Here are some details from Pennlive.com on the Bible verses her daughter said incorrectly:
Shoffner asked her daughter, “What did God tell the man to do with his son?”
When the girl said she did not know, her mother said, “God told the man to kill his son.”
Instead, the victim said, “God said to forgive his son,” and Shoffner grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head into the wall, police said.
Shoffner then told her daughter to leave her home and never comeback. The distraught little girl ran out of the house and contacted her father who called police.
Shoffner will also serve five years of probation upon her release.
