Hurt, doesn’t begin to expound upon Isaiah Thomas feelings about his trade.
Given all the things he’s had to overcome from his lingering hip injury, the death of his sister and now an unexpected trade. After 3 seasons with the Boston Celtics, Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving.
One of the most interesting things that came of the Sports Illustrated interview was when I.T said they it’s all love for Boston but not for everyone!
Thomas says, “Boston is going to be all love,” he said. “I might not ever talk to Danny again. That might not happen. I’ll talk to everybody else. But what he did, knowing everything I went through, you don’t do that, bro. That’s not right. I’m not saying eff you. But every team in this situation comes out a year or two later and says, ‘We made a mistake.’ That’s what they’ll say, too.”
Also stating that he had no knowledge of the trade with Cleveland. Maybe I’m just a the glass half full type of girl, but with Thomas begin one of the most effective players last season despite all of the obstacles. One thing Thomas did seem grateful for was the winning culture that the Cavs are known for.
Isaiah went on to say
“The nice thing about the Cavs is nobody is in a rush,” Thomas told SI. “Most places are trying to get you back, which isn’t always best for you. These guys know they’re going to play in June. It’s a given.”
Thomas had to use that “hurt” as fuel and better himself for the NBA season which is rapidly approaching. I guess only time will tell how Thomas adjusts over in Cleveland.
