Last week’s demonstrations spread like wildfire. But as many have pointed out, let’s not forget why Colin Kaepernick is protesting and more importantly, it goes beyond the flag.
At this point, it’s a bit redundant to express that it’s not about disrespecting the flag but alas, it’s hard to change the minds of those who are already set on one thing. A man who lives in Maryland, who didn’t even attend the game, went out of his way and paid for a plane to fly a banner over today’s Steelers-Ravens game. The banner read, “Stand and respect our flag.” I’m sure he sits on his couch as he watches the game.
For starters, he’d rather pay to have this message flown instead of perhaps connecting with those who feel that they’ve been discriminated. This just continues to push back our movement. As one reporter pointed out, even the Ravens were booed while they were kneeling in prayer. This just makes no sense.
Ravens all kneeling in a prayer while the crowd is booing. Now, standing up for anthem.

It is worth noting that both Steelers and Ravens were not kneeling during the anthem.
