Heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder is out for more than blood when he steps in the ring Saturday night. In fact he says he’s out for murder.
Following Thursday’s press conference in New York City, where he defends the WBC heavyweight championship title against Bermane Stiverne, TMZ interviewed the WBC champion who says he’s looking to put a body on his record.
“Somebody will die in that ring come November 4, I promise.
This is death. I want a body on my record anyway. I wanna put a body there.”
Wilder finds himself facing Stiverne for the second time after initial opponent Luis Ortiz tested positive for a banned substance. Prior to this match-up scheduled opponent Alexander Povetkin similarly tested positive for a banned substance.
In the first match-up, in January 2015, Wilder went the distance with Stiverne to win by unanimous decision. Stiverne later complained he had been suffering from dehydration.
The two meet Saturday night on Showtime live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
