Jerry Jones gets drunk a lot and this was no different.
It wasn’t even a good joke, but here is what happened via THE BLAST.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a racial comment to a fan in a Dallas hotel after the man asked for a congratulatory message for his new fiancée.
The video was shot in 2013 at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Jones is walking near the bar and appears to be heading out of the hotel.
In the video, he’s asked to deliver a special message for the recent engagement or wedding of a couple who seem to be Cowboys fans.
Jones looks directly into the camera and says, “Jennifer, congratulations on the wedding. Now, you know he’s with a black girl tonight, don’t you?” He then busts up laughing.
We’re told the fan in question is white.
Here is what Jerry had to say about the comment via the Star-Telegram.
“That comment was inappropriate,” Jones told the Star-Telegram. “It’s not who I am, and I’m sorry.”
Honestly, I don’t even know what Jerry is trying to say in the video. Is he saying because the man’s fiancée who is white, she would be more offended that he is cheating with a black woman instead of a white woman? Is he saying that black women are more inferior, like sleeping with the help? Sounds a bit slave masterish, but there is a stereotype that cheating with black men/women if you are white is beneath you.
I really couldn’t tell you what he was thinking, but when Jerry is drunk bad things happen, just ask Jimmy Johnson.
