Thou shalt not use anything that remotely appears to be connected to Beyoncè without her permission.
A Brooklyn brewery learned that the hard way.
Mashable.com reports that Brooklyn-based Lineup Brewing began selling Bïeryoncé – a German style beer. As the beer increased in popularity, Bon Appétit interviewed brewery owner Kataria Martinez who said the beer was dedicated after she couldn’t watch the star’s concert.
Katarina Martinez, the head brewer and co-owner at Lineup, decided to dedicate this beer to Queen Bey because she initially brewed it for an Oktoberfest party that coincided with a Beyoncé concert.
Martinez was working the party and couldn’t attend the concert, so she paid homage in this way instead. “I was terribly sad about it, so I decided to name it in her honor.
I’m also a Hispanic, woman-owned and operated business, so I really look up to her and the strength and empowerment she promotes with women.”
Better a cease and desist than a lawsuit.
