After police in Florida arrested an UBER driver for driving a stolen, $250,000, Ferrari, the department took to social media to offer tips on how not to get arrested for stealing a stolen Ferrari.
In jest of course.
ABC 15 in Phoenix reports that Hilburn Jay Brendon Hunkins was pulled over by police after the officer noticed the Ferrari had stolen California license plates and was trailing slowly behind a red Corvette. When questioned on the ownership of the car, Hunkins initially said the car belonged to a friend but couldn’t produce a name or documentation to support his story.
Following the arrest, Gainsville officers posted the following tips on stealing a high-end car on FB.
PRO TIP:
1. Don’t steal stuff. It’s just not nice.
2. Certainly don’t steal a $250,000 2017 Ferrari California.
2a. Especially when the window sticker is still on it.3. If you ARE going to steal a $250,000 Ferrari…with the window sticker still on it…DON’T drive next to a Gainesville/Alachua County Drug Task Force vehicle with a License Plate Reader.
4. The “18MPG” is incorrect. We were only able to get 10mpg out of it when we drove it to the station.
5. #4 is a joke. We had it safely towed for the rightful owner.
Hunkins has been charged with grand theft auto.
