The Florida State Seminoles released a statement Friday night confirming that their football program is bowl eligible despite a Reddit post that said the Seminoles were not bowled eligible.
Joe Reedy, from the associated press, announced
“FSU has received confirmation from Delaware State that the 90 percent requirement is satisfied for the 2017 season, allowing the victory to be used in determining bowl eligibility.”
There was some confusion to see if FSU was bowl eligible after a post on Reddit noted that Delaware State did not reach the 90 percent scholarship limit. If Delaware State did not reach that 90 percent, FSU who finished the season 6-6 would not have had enough wins to reach the bowl requirements and would have snapped a 35-year streak for bowl apprearances.
Now, with the Reddit post cleared and the rumors put to rest the Seminoles will get ready to appear in their 36th straight bowl game as they participate in The Independence Bowl vs Southern Mississippi and kicks off at 1:30 p.m. ET Wednesday.
