Ever since Conor McGregor cashed in big after his PPV fight with Floyd Mayweather, rumors have been swirling that his next mega-fight would be against Manny Pacquiao.
Jim Whyte of Sky Sports reported that the two fighters were already in talks for a fight in April 2018, and Manny had also stated that he was looking to return to the ring in April.
Dana White of the UFC, was apparently unaware of all of the reported negotiations between the two camps and gave this response.
“That would be weird, because [McGregor’s] under contract with us,” White said. “If that’s true, I will be suing Manny Pacquiao and whoever is representing him.”
This is a big problem for the UFC, as Conor McGregor has tasted the big money that comes from boxing, raking in at least $30 million from his clash with Mayweather. McGregor may not be too keen on fighting in the UFC for a fraction of his Mayweather purse, after seeing the other side.
Dana White will definitely sue if any agreement with Pacquiao is made without the UFC involved. Conor is still their biggest draw and still under contract. Conor McGregor does not have complete control of who he fights unless he is released from his UFC contract, and that is no easy task. If McGregor and Pacquiao do eventually fight, expect the UFC to be fully involved. Flip the page for the video of Dana White threatening to sue.
