Alex Rodriguez’s charisma is something that you can feel as you see him reporting on baseball. It even makes those that feel that baseball is boring enjoy it. There’s a giant out there that’s noticed it and their name is ESPN.
This rumor is quite interesting to hear considering the fact that there have been layoffs in ESPN that have caused major headlines. In fact, even those that we didn’t think would lose their job, have. But, ESPN knows one thing-they need to bring back baseball fan base. As a major baseball fan, I don’t identify with today’s average fan: a 57-year-old white man (it’s gone up). So, perhaps bringing A-Rod on-board is a good idea but there’s one thing in the way, Fox Sports. Here’s the quote from UpRoxx.
ESPN would even be willing to “share” A-Rod with Fox, but Fox is not interested in such an arrangement involving the three-time American League MVP and 2009 World Series champion, who signed a multiyear contract with the Los Angles-based network before last season.
“ESPN wants A-Rod badly,” said a source with knowledge of the talks, “but Fox, in general, is not good about sharing talent.”
If they’re willing to share him, it definitely shows that they want him badly. We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
