An Ohio basketball team has been permanently banned from play for wearing custom jerseys adorned with racist epithets.
The New York Post reports that a recreational league team composed of high school players, called the Wet Dream Team, was shut down after players began wearing jerseys with names on the back like “Knee Grow” and “Coon.”
After several stories were written by a local paper, and the team played three games wearing the Jerseys, the team’s run finally ended and a school board member resigned. Following the team dismissal from the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League, the team’s coach issued the following statement.
“We sincerely apologize to anyone that was offended by the jerseys. We offered to cover them up or change, however the league saw fit to remove us and we have accepted that decision.”
