Last week, Keisha Lance Bottoms was sworn in as the new mayor of Atlanta. During the course of her campaign trail, she received many endorsements from celebrities in Atlanta which included many from the hip hop community. Two of them were Atlanta rappers T.I. and Killer Mike.
T.I. and Killer Mike will now serve as part of Bottoms’ transition team. Both rappers spoke highly of her during her campaign run and believed in her ability to bring about great change in Atlanta. T.I. and Killer Mike were among 36 selected leaders from different ranks from industries such arts, education, business, and politics. Atlanta native and Ebenezer Baptist Church member Raphael Warnock will also serve with Bottoms.
T.I. and Killer Mike have always been vocal about political issues that affect minorties in America along with issues in the White House. During the 2016 presidential election, Killer Mike traveled all over America to endorse Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. This opportunity will now help the two Atlanta natives put their desire for change to help their hometown continue to progress.
