Marvel is in a great spot right now. They have Black Panther coming up soon, then Avengers: Infinity War and both will most likely break box office records. They’ve done a great job building and establishing all their super heroes from Iron Man to Captain America to Thor.
Thor: Ragnarok released November of 2017 and has surpassed the $800 million mark. Such a huge hit that brought us a more comedic side to Thor. Despite all the success, we could be looking at the last couple of times Chris Hemsworth playing Thor.
Hemsworth had an interview with USA Today and here’s what he said,
“Contractually, right now — yeah, this is it. I’m done. I won’t be playing the character again”
His contract is up with Avengers 4‘s release on May 3, 2019.
Ragnarok did a great job at bringing a new side to Thor and potentially going further with it and Hemsworth feels that way too. Here’s what he said about Ragnarok and his conversation with Marvel President Kevin Feige.
“I felt like we re-invented him,” he adds of the character. “There is a bigger platform now to continue if we want to”
“(Feige) said, ‘Look, we just have to concentrate on (Avengers) now,’ ” says Hemsworth. “So who knows? There are 76 cast members in these two Avengers films. They will be the biggest films of all time, far bigger than my character. It’s a conversation for further down the road, if it was going to happen.”
Welp, things are up in the air but one thing is for certain, these next Avengers films are going to be fire.
