KD is taking advantage of living right in Silicon Valley. As much as his from OKC to GS was about basketball, it was also about life. He has an agenda off the court and he’s doing a lot of learning.
ESPN’s Chris Hayes reports that KD has a desire to own an NBA team. He and his business partner, Rich Kleiman have gone to a number of meetings with owners and tech CEO’s to learn and take in information.
Durant is setting himself up for life after the NBA, which is something his teammates such as Igoudala and Curry have been doing. Both are involved in tech startups.
KD is very serious about owning a team but he’s also vocal about players being GM’s, scouts or coaches. Here’s what he said about that,
“MJ was the first big Nike athlete, the biggest star of his time, but if you don’t have the trajectory, that path, that journey, it’s going to be hard to do what he did,” Durant said. “But you can still affect the NBA and the game of basketball in a different way. You don’t have to be an owner. I think it should be more guys in the positions of power like general managers and scouts and coaches. Anything that involves the day-to-day operations of these franchises. I think more players and more experienced players should be in those positions”
Durant is planning on making big moves when he retires.
