Jemele Hill went on the offensive and took control of her situation no matter what MAGA media tells you. remember they will always try to hinder a person of color’s ability to work when they start speaking up against racism while white people who encourage racism get promoted pic.twitter.com/EP4EjuhISp

Sometimes your dream job becomes a nightmare. Sometimes your vision becomes blurry because someone else is messing up the view.
That is what happened with Jemele Hill and SC6. The 6 pm Sportscenter is a dream for many sports anchors in the industry. It is one of the highest profile gigs in media, but once the vision got blurred, Hill realized that her dream was becoming a nightmare.
So, she decided that where she is at in her media life right now, she would be best used elsewhere and that is why she asked out, not the other way around.
SI has more details.
ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill is leaving the 6:00 p.m. SC6 edition of SportsCenter to join the staff of The Undefeated, the ESPN microsite that fuses sports, race and culture, as well as other additional assignments. Multiple sources confirmed that Hill asked management for the switch. She is expected to depart SC6 in February.
In February, ESPN relaunched SportsCenter as SC6 with Jemele Hill and Michael Smith as its new anchors. In September, Hill notably became a subject of national conversation following a string of tweets in response to comments about President Donald Trump, including one where she called the President “a white supremacist.” A White House spokeswoman called for Hill to be fired and Trump also responded to Hill on Twitter. ESPN released a statement saying Hill’s comments “do not represent the position of ESPN,” and later, the network suspended Hill for two weeks for violating its social media policy.
The SC6 was supposed to spotlight Jemele and Michael’s personalities and chemistry, but lately, it has just turned into a standard Sportscenter, which defeated the purpose of them doing it. There was a lot of moving parts behind the scenes and simply too many hands in the cookie jar.
The original people who wanted the SC6 to be different and fresh either are no longer with the company or moved on to different roles. The people who replace them never had that vision and have been trying to fit a round ball in a square hole for months.
Once people like Will Cain and others routinely showed up on SC6 simply to appease MAGA, white supremacists and Trump, the writing was on the wall that Hill who obviously is against any forms of racism wouldn’t be there for long.
Hill who is a multifaceted reporter, one of the most talented in the industry, who wants to do more meaningful things at ESPN than just regurgitate highlights and she will get that opportunity now. It isn’t a coincidence that she will be doing more things with The Undefeated because it is clear that is where her voice is needed and she will have more free rein to speak on the serious issues facing the black community.
For the time being Michael Smith will be doing the show solo, but it is possible he will be paired with another African-American co-host in the future, one that is more comfortable doing the standard Sportscenter style anchoring. It is also possible at some point, they will just revamp the entire thing.
MAGA will say she was fired or demoted, but I can tell you with 100% accuracy that this was Hill’s choice and she wasn’t forced to do anything.
Don’t let MAGA media changed the narrative on you; they are afraid of Hill because she is a strong black woman with a voice, so they will do anything to silence her.
