Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros capped off a fun UFC Fight Night card in Austin, Tx with a fast-paced, one round fight. Taking place at the Frank Irwin Center, Cerrone and Medeiros exchanged big shots, with Medeiros hurting Cowboy early in the first round, but it was Cerrone who would come through big in the final seconds of the fight. Cerrone dropped his opponent, landed a few more shots, and the ref finally called the fight.
With this win, Cowboy ends a three-fight skid, as well as tied for the most victories and finishes in the octagon.
In the co-main event, Derrick Lewis scored a third-round knockout over Marcin Tybura. Lewis was tentative with his strikes during the fight but made the ones thrown count. Tybura was able to get Lewis to the ground throughout the fight, but he was able to defend submission attempts and get back on his feet. In the third round, Lewis landed his signature right hand that all but took Tybura’s head off.
