Canelo Alvarez recently failed a drug test for PEDS and blamed the result on contaminated meat he had from his home country of Mexico. This comes before his highly anticipated rematch with Gennady Golovin in May.
Former welterweight champion Andre Berto weighed in on the situation and say it’s hard to say what’s really to blame. He said Alvarez has been in Mexico his whole life and this incident never happened and questioned if that was the real reason the drug test was failed, per TMZ Sports.
Regardless of this result, the epic rematch between Alvarez and Golovin will still happen. Fans have been craving this rematch ever since the first fight in September in which it was shockingly a draw. Everything will be settled May 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
