Canelo Alvarez has been suspended due to him being caught with a banned substance that was supposedly from contaminated meat from Mexico. His rematch with Gennady Golovkin is also in trouble as it is on May 5 and the Nevada Athletic Commission is looking to suspend him for a year.
UFC President Dana White weighed in on the controversy with TMZ Sports snd thinks people shouldn’t give up on the fight just yet after news that fans can start getting refunds for tickets has been revealed.
“I don’t think it means anything” said White. “I think people will still go to the fight. If I had a ticket, I wouldn’t refund it.”
White also said that he thinks the fight will happen regardless due to too much money being involved for both sides. This is undoubtedly true. The anticipation for the first fight between GGG and Canelo was through the roof but fans were left disappointed after the fight resulted in a draw due to judge Adalaide Byrd’s score. After months of setting up an epic rematch, there’s no way that boxing fans will be crushed again.
