At least one politician is stepping up to the plate to challenge Stacey Dash’s proposed run for Congress.
TMZ reports that Compton Mayor Aja Brown will formally announce on Thursday her intent to run against Dash for the 44th District seat which covers Compton, Watts, San Pedro, and North Long Beach. Brown reportedly had no intention of running until members of the California Congressional delegation contacted Brown and urged her to run against Dash.
Popular among her constituents, Brown has been an integral part of Compton’s recent redevelopment efforts. Past Compton residents Kendrick Lamar, Serena Williams, Ava DuVernay, Anthony Anderson and more have taken part in a number of revitalization projects in the City.
