The College of Evansville hired Ex-Boston Celtics, Walter McCarty, as the school’s new head coach.
Currently, McCarty is an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics, where he spent the bulk of his 11-year NBA playing career.
What you probably didn’t know is that Walter McCarty released a debut R&B album back in 2003, under the title “Moment for Love.”
Now this is the part where you’re probably expecting me to clown McCarty like other NBA players’ failed attempts to cross-over into the music industry: A.I., Kobe (featuring Tyra Banks), Shaq (featuring B.I.G.), Ron Artest…the list unnecessarily goes on…
But game recognize game. And Walter McCarty low-key has some pipes. I can’t even lie. He’s no Usher or anything like that, but honestly, I probably have some worse music on my iPhone, today. Kind of like a poor man’s Joe. Somewhere in that Marcus Houston-ish range. Maybe a few hints of Carl Thomas.
I mean Walter is releasing music, co-signed by Hit-Boy Entertainment, so his music is far from a joke.
McCarty is an Evansville native. He also played for the ’96 National Champion Kentucky Wildcats and he was drafted by the New York Knicks with the 19th pick in the ’96 NBA draft.
Fun fact: McCarty played on the same Lincoln high school basketball team as Jesus Shuttlesworth in Ray Allen’s and Denzel Washington’s He Got Game. (far right)
Since his debut album, Walter McCarty released two more CDs: Emotionally (2011) and Unbreakable (2012).
Flip the pages to hear some of Walter’s music. Let me know what y’all think.
