Former NBA All-Star and future Hall of Famer Ray Allen is releasing his book ‘From The Outside‘ and it details his playing days. He highlighted his time with the Celtics, discussed his turmoil with Rajon Rondo and his departure from Boston in 2012 to Miami.
Recalling a team meeting during the 2010-2011 season that was filled with tension, Rondo said to the team that he carried them to their 2008 NBA Finals win over the Lakers, per Sporting News’ Sean Deveney. Following that comment, almost the entire team replied by saying “You what?”
Allen went on to say that Rondo was trying to play the victim role by saying the team had a problem with him. Allen quickly cleared it up that there were no issues. Rondo’s reasoning for this hot take was that Allen reportedly said to him that he was the reason that both of them would be traded to Phoenix for Amar’e Stoudemire.
The Celtics’ core big three consisted of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Rondo was an x-factor in much of Boston’s success that year but to say that he carried them to a championship is too far-fetched.
