When it comes to any team in New York City, everyone will chime in and drop their opinion. It’s probably why people would rather stay in their pond and be a big fish. As the Knicks season is coming to an end, rumors have begun and Mark Jackson’s name has been mentioned as possibly being named as their new head coach. Is that something you’d like to see?
Much like the Jets quarterback, the Knicks, too, have had a constant situation with their head coaching title. It just seems that as every season comes and goes, we’re all ready to ring the neck of the head coach. Phil Jackson was able to get New York Kristaps Porzingis but he’s not the solution to one of the problems. We all know ownership is the biggest problem.
Let’s be real – the Knicks might be parting ways with current head coach Jeff Hornacek once the season is over. Hornacek isn’t bad but in my opinion, the connection was never really made. In addition, his lineups were really questionable. The Knicks need someone like Mark Jackson to be their head coach and we’re going to list 5 reasons why he would be good in the role, but also why his past maybe an issue.
As a native New Yorker, Jackson knows that this city isn’t for everyone so he won’t stroll in there confidently expecting to turn it around.
In an interview with the Daily News, he said that, “Everybody’s not made for New York.” It may sound incredibly cliche but as a native New Yorker, it’s really true. This city will eat you alive if you walk slow down 6th avenue. Being a Knicks head coach means you’ll have thick skin; you can’t let anything faze you. Jackson, being a Brooklyn kid himself, knows the deal in this city all too well. You can expect him to build a solid foundation.
