Everything in March is earned. Facing a tenacious and defensive minded West Virginia team, Villanova came out the victors 90-78 in a Sweet Sixteen backyard brawl.
Villanova Forward Mikal Bridges has a wealth of big game experience. A National Champion two years ago, Bridges overcame early foul woes with composure and clutch play.
A true two-way player, Bridges scored 16 points while grabbing 6 boards on the night. His defensive prowess and ball handling skills also factored in heavily in victory. With West Virginia often employing a full court press, Bridges was able to use his long wing span to catch jump balls and get Villanova going offensively.
The Wildcats will face the winner of Texas Tech and Purdue in the Elite Eight. BSO spoke exclusively to Mikal Bridges on overcoming a tough West Virginia team, his championship game pedigree and looking ahead to Sunday.
