President of UFC, Dana White predicted on “The Jim Rome Show” that any UFC bout with Undefeated Boxer Floyd Mayweather(50-0 boxing,0-0 MMA), crossing over to entering the octagon wouldn’t be conducive to the Mayweather’s health.
“Anyone can get caught on any given day,” White said. “But I think (an MMA fight) goes very badly for him.” per MMA Junkie.
Discussions of Mayweather fighting Conner McGregor (21-3 MMA, 0-1 boxing) in their second installment of ‘The Great White Hype”, this time in McGregor’s realm of expertise of MMA, just as McGregor stepped into the boxing ring for their showdown last August, as Mayweather knocked out McGregor in the 10th round while also securing the money bag of “well in excess of $200 million via Dan Rafel of ESPN.
According to MMA Junkie, the 41-year-old Mayweather, would be fighting in the featherweight division, which is no longer McGregor’s weight class. Despite Mayweather’s inexperience in the octagon, he’s stated that he’ll soon start “training with UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, and even rated his wrestling skills a seven out of 10.” via MMA Junkie.
With Mayweather being the ultimate self promoter and competitor, one can’t image that we wouldn’t take the challenge of jumping in the octagon as it’s a street fight and Floyd is from Grand Rapids Michigan.
White also went on to say the possible matchup is feasible, “All I’d ever see was the stuff that went on with him and (Bob) Arum and how they couldn’t get the (Manny) Pacquiao fight done. Then once I got in and started negotiating with these guys (and) they’re smart guys. They’re easy to deal with, and from what I thought it was going to be, it was much easier. So yeah, I could see this happening.”
White says Mayweather would be in the featherweight division. One that McGregor isn’t in anymore, but these things can always be worked out behind the scenes.
