Texans QB Deshaun Watson suffered an ACL injury in practice in the middle of the 2017 season which derailed his chances at winning rookie of the year, which looked unanimous up until that point. Houston had to use Tom Savage the rest of the way.
Per NFL.com, Texans WR DeAndre Hopskins said that him and Watson will be the best duo in the league now.
“I expect us to be the best duo in the NFL,” said Hopkins “That’s my goal. I’m pretty sure that’s his goal. And if we have all these goals for ourselves, that’s going to help the team get what we get to.”
It’s a bold statement but Watson and Hopkins do have the potential to be just as great as the Matt Ryan-Julio Jones and Ben Roethlisberger-Antonio Brown combos. Hopkins has displayed top five WR numbers but hasn’t had the right QB to get him to the next level. A healthy Deshaun Watson can do so.
