Florida State’s season is already off to a rocky start, and we’re barely past the Spring Game.
According to reports, an anonymous tipster told Tallahassee Police that he spotted Francois with a grocery bag containing approximately 2 pounds of marijuana.
Police subsequently searched Francois’s apartment, and found 17 grams of weed.
Police suspect Francois was selling weed out his apartment.
Francois was not arrested, and instead, entered a pre-trial diversion program.
New Head Coach Willie Taggart provided a statement to the Tampa Bay Times:
He understands his responsibility as a student athlete here…He understands my expectation of what I’m looking for, especially when it comes to our quarterback. He’s got to be smart about who he’s around and what he’s around, and make good decisions.
Once upon a time, Francois was the ACC Rookie of the Year back in 2016. However, he suffered a season-ending ACL in FSU’s opening loss to the National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide last season.
This is Francois’s second run-in with the law in the past year. Back in January, Francois’s girl friend accused him of domestic violence; however, it turned out that she was the one who attacked Francois.
Francois will look to re-claim his starting job from sophomore QB James Blackman, who put together a nice little season in relief of Francois last year.
Francois is one of the most technically sound quarterbacks in all of college football. Hopefully he can move past this little hiccup quickly.
