Earlier this week, it was reported that after a court hearing next week, Meek Mill would be released from prison. Meek’s lawyer Joe Tacopina shut all of that down quickly.
Tacopina said there’s “no truth” to Meek walking out free from the correctional pacility in Camp Hill, PA, according to Vulture. Despite all of the evidence that has shown bias against Meek throughout this case, he is still facing 2-4 years in prison.
Many political figures have shown support for Meek over the past week including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft who visited him in prison along with Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kinney speaking out.
“I think we need to look at how we handle criminal-justice issues and how we treat people when they’re young and shouldn’t follow them when they’re older,” said Kinney.(Via Vulture) They have responsibilities to take care of children, child in this case, and be better off doing it if he went to work.”
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf also advocated for Meek by saying that his sentencing has been unjust and addressed the country’s horrific criminal justice system.
With evidence being shown of Judge Genece Brinkley’s bias against Meek over favors he declined to do for her and Philadelphia police officer Reginald Graham being on the city’s list of corrupt cops, this information will continue to be presented in an attempt to get Meek out of prison along with the case being thrown away.
