Nowadays when flying, you HAVE to be on the lookout for airlines sneaking in extra fees (especially with baggage) in order to squeeze even more money out of travelers. I mean, it’s a wonder you don’t have to pay an oxygen tax while at 30,000 feet.
One of the newer hustles airlines are beginning to adapt is to charge budget passengers (Priceline, Expedia, etc.) an extra $25 or $50 in order to carry on anything larger than a purse or briefcase.
Yes, this includes an almost-empty backpack.
As you may imagine, this could pose a huge problem for passengers who are unaware of the new policy & traveling with little to no money. In fact, that’s exactly what happened to one Delilah Cassidy as she was returning home from a Euro-trip.
She explains via her Twitter account that she was hit with the unexpected fee & was unable to pay with her credit cards as she hadn’t informed the companies she’d returned to the states. If you’ve ever been rushing for a flight, you know a situation like this would make it impossible to make it on time.
But she just so happened to be standing next to Jermaine Gresham, a TE for the Arizona Cardinals. Overhearing her plight, he took care of the issue with the swipe of his card.
Probably nothing to him , but it meant everything to her. The small, kind act was the difference between her making her flight, or missing it and being out even more money she likely didn’t have.
