Big Baller Brand CEO LaVar Ball wishes to have all three of his sons play for the Lakers could actually come true. The Lakers have been reported by ESPN to have invited Lonzo Ball’s younger brother LiAngelo Ball. LiAngelo made news last year when him and a couple of teammates were caught stealing at a Chinese mall during UCLA’s basketball team trip to the country.
He was slated to sit the remainder of the basketball season upon his return to the United States after the issue was resolved. As a result LaVar Ball decided to pull his son from UCLA and also pull the younger LaMelo out of high school and take their talents to Lithuania.
Now the Ball family has left Lithuania and LiAngelo is looking to prove to teams that he is ready to play in the NBA. LiAngelo managed to average 12.6 points a night while playing for Vytautas Prienu in the Lithuanian league.
Both LaVar and LiAngelo have made it clear that their priority is to play for the Lakers.
“The Lakers are my priority, for sure,” LiAngelo said recently on the Marcellus and Travis show on ESPNLA radio. “I want to play with my brother. Ever since I played with Zo, we went undefeated. When we get older, we will get stronger, faster and a better feel for the game.”
“First priority is to get Gelo on the Lakers,” LaVar said on ESPNLA radio recently. “Everybody In the world says, ‘Hey, it won’t work.’ This is the best fit. Look for the position they need. You say Lonzo needs to [get] stronger and [be a better] shooter. I’m bringing you a stronger one and a shooter. He’s a pure scorer.”
ESPN is reporting that the LiAngelo is scheduled to workout Tuesday along with:
The second of the three Ball brothers will join St. Bonaventure’s Jaylen Adams, UCLA’s Thomas Welsh, Virginia’s Devon Hall, Syracuse’s Tyus Battle and Arizona’s Dusan Ristic in the workout.
The Lakers own the 25th and 47th pick in next month’s draft so we’ll see soon enough if LiAngelo made enough of an impression which will lead to them selecting him with one of their picks.
