It hasn’t been that long since Chipotle was in the news for E. Coli contamination.
Well, the restaurant chain is back in the headlines for not so flattering reasons.
Jeanette Ortiz, a former Chipotle manager, was fired back in 2015 after her bosses claimed to have her on video stealing $626 from the safe. Ortiz never saw the so-called footage and was told that the evidence had been destroyed.
In turn, Ortiz filed a wrongful termination lawsuit and was $7.97 million in damages by a California jury. It was revealed that Ortiz was targeted and framed in retaliation for filing a worker’s compensation claim after suffering a work-related wrist injury.
After a four-hour deliberation, the jury awarded Ortiz $6 million for emotional distress and $1.97 million for loss of wages.
