This isn’t very surprising to me.
I’ve covered multiple sports and have probably over 500 credentials from various things, but there are still times I get a much longer look by security and others in the press area just because I am black.
Granted no one has ever called the cops on me. I don’t recall the cops needing to be called over a credentialing issue, but there is a first time for everything when you are black.
Case in point.
He asked to shoot on the roof and was told he couldn’t shoot anywhere in the press box. Not true. I and other photogs have been shooting on the roof all day. After he refused to show his license, which no one was required to do, police were called in. They let him shoot. 🤬😡
