Toronto Police charged Blue Jays Closer Roberto Osuna with assaulting a woman early Tuesday morning.
Toronto Police are withholding the name of the victim to protect the victim’s identity.
The MLB announced that it is placing Osuna on administrative leave:
MLB takes all allegations of this nature very seriously” MLB said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports and other outlets. “We are investigating the circumstances and have placed Roberto Osuna on Administrative Leave in accordance with the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy.
Osuna is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
Coming into today, Osuna is fourth in the league with nine saves this year.
This Thursday night, the Blue Jays were planning on giving away Osuna t-shirts to the fans. Talk about some pretty awful timing.
