Jerry Richardson announced back in December that he would be putting the Carolina Panthers up for sale amid an investigation of his alleged workplace misconduct.
Rumors swirled about potential buyers as well as if the franchise would remain in the Charlotte. Those talks came to an end last week when billionaire hedge fund manager David Tepper signed a deal to purchase the team for $2.2 billion in cash.
At the NFL Spring meetings on Tuesday, the league unanimously approved the purchase. All that is left is for Tepper to sell his minority shares in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
