Solo: A Star Wars Story Falls Short Of Opening Weekend Expectations At $83.3 Million; What The Expected Sales Were

2018 has seen a series of superhero movies such as Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War crush box office records. Deadpool 2 also just had a solid release.

Solo: A Star Wars Story released this weekend. While it’s estimated that it’ll bring in $83.3 million this weekend, the film still didn’t meet expectations.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney expected $130-150 million for Memorial Day weekend. It doesn’t look like this goal will be achieved and the opening weekend is a disappointment.  The Last Jedi came out at the end of 2017 and exceeded expectations for Star Wars as their opening box office numbers hit $220,009,584.
