In recent weeks video has captured what it is actually like to live as a black person in America. Stopping at a Starbucks while black results in a police confrontation. Being a member of LA Fitness while black results in a police confrontation. Going to eat a Waffle House while black results in a police confrontation. And now, vacationing using Airbnb while black results in a police confrontation.
Thanks to video, the rest of the country gets a glimpse of what it is like to live as a black person in America, and I can tell you it’s not always fun. What was supposed to be a fun California vacation for Kelly Fyffe-Marshall and her two friends, turned into a nightmare as they checked out of their Airbnb vacation rental. As they were loading their luggage into their car, a neighbor called the police to report a robbery at the residence. Police responded in full force for these three unassuming black women with 7 police cars and helicopter. The police officers then proceeded to force the ladies to prove they were not burglars.
At this point, their vacation is ruined and these ladies lives are in danger because of racist behavior by a neighbor. This is yet another example of why existing as a black person in America is like walking on eggshells almost every day.
