Klay Thompson has one more year on his contract with the Warriors before he hits the free agent market as an unrestricted player in summer 2019. Thompson expressed a desire of a contract extension with Golden State last month, according to NBC Sports.
Thompson’s father Mychal appeared on 95.7 The Game and discussed him staying in Golden State for the remainder of his career.
“Klay definitely wants to play his whole career in Golden State and the Bay Area — there’s no question about that. He loves it up there. Loves the fans. But let’s just say that negotiations will probably continue in the summer of ’19.”
Klay will look to collect as much money as possible leading up to his free agency next summer and will take his time throughout this process. He will continue to be known as one of the best shooters in the NBA and he will definitely get the bag he’s worth whether he signs the extension this fall or next summer. Golden State is creating a dynasty and I don’t think Thompson will wanna leave this winning culture.
