The Phoenix Suns have the first pick and the decision is not easy if they want to please their star player Devin Booker.
Mock drafts throughout the NBA have Arizona’s Deandre Ayton going at number one but Marvin Bagley III disagrees. The former Duke forward told reporters that believes he’s the number one pick.
“It’s disrespectful and I use it as drive every single day.
At the end of the day, this is all talk right now. Eventually we’ll have to go on the court and we’ll have to play. That’s where all the talking ends.”
Bagley will work out for the Sacramento Kings and the Atlanta Hawks despite his claims. Ayton only worked out for the Suns.
“Deandre, he’s going to do what he’s going to do. That’s his plan. All I can do is control what I can control and do what I love to do and just show different teams what I’m capable of doing. I can’t really worry about what other people are doing at this point. This is an important time in my life right now, something I’ve been working toward my whole basketball career.”
In Bagley’s freshman year, he averaged 21 points per game shooting at 61% and 11.1 rebounds per game. There’s only a slight difference from Ayton who had 20 points per game also shooting at 61% and 11.6 rebounds per game and he’s two inches taller standing at 7 foot 1.
Flip to the next page as I spoke with Ayton’s team mate Rawle Alkins at the NBA Combine on Ayton being the top pick and mock drafts.
