Before boarding his G7 this afternoon, President Trump says to reporters that there is “power in the pardon” and wants to continue the trend that he started with Alice Marie Johnson. Seeing as players of the NFL cause the most controversy when it comes to social justice, the Donald offers them a “deal”. Instead of protesting the national anthem and being “all talk”, they should recommend to him special cases that he should pardon and he will review the applications. It doesn’t appear that he realizes this would take an impossible amount of time and energy, when the focus should be on reform.
That’s not all. The president then says he’ll start with “celebrity” Muhammad Ali and pardon his conviction for resisting the draft in 1967. Seemingly unbeknownst to Trump, this conviction was overturned 4 years later by the Supreme Court for a application technicality.
Muhammad Ali’s estate attorney Ron Tweel responded:
We appreciate President Trump’s sentiment, but a pardon is unnecessary.
Trump says OJ is off limits though.
Hit the flip to watch President Trump make a MAGA fool out of himself for the 1000th time.
