A decorated wrestler is losing out on his scholarship after a video surfaced of the student calling peaceful protestors homophobic slurs.
TMZ reports that Bronson Harmon a California CIF State finals athlete headed for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo will revoke his scholarship after university officials discovered the viral video.
In the video, Bronson is seen with his father protesting a Keep Families Together Rally in June. Passing by an immigrant rights protestor filming the activity, Harmon turns to the camera and yells the homophobic slur. Additional voices can be heard in the footage yelling as well as well as reports of Harmon shoving a man into a tree at the same rally.
Bronson told the San Luis Obispo Tribune he was in the heat of the moment.
“I was there to peacefully protest the things that we believe, and people were harassing us, spitting on us and calling us Nazis.”
