Well, it probably means Donald’s payday is unjustly in jeopardy once again.
The Los Angeles Rams got a little messy today, whether the Rams would actually admit to being in the wrong or not:
Rams are giving WR Brandin Cooks a five-year extension worth $80 million, tying him to LA for six years at $88 million, per source.

High figures such as these one here are very, very rare in the status quo of today’s NFL.
The Rams just acquired Cooks from the Super Bowl Runner-Up Patriots this past off-season, so Cooks basically hasn’t even put on shoulder pads yet for LA, yet the Rams decided to back up the Brinks truck for the 24 year old wideout.
Cooks is as excited as you’d expect someone to be, who just signed a contract for $80 million before they’ve even had their first day of work:
Even before I got here, you saw something special going on with this team, with the coach, our great owner, and the teammates that I’m involved with…It’s a young culture that is very energetic.
DT Aaron Donald, on the other hand, is probably asking himself what the hell is Brandin Cooks seeing that he’s not because he has been trying to get a deal done with the Rams for the past two seasons now.
Then, out of left field, some WR, who the Rams barely know, comes walking through the door, looking cute, and the Rams break out their pocket books on sight.
According to ESPN, the Rams completely burned through their bread too, in locking up Cooks, so they only have about $2.29 million left in cap space.
Considering the fact that Aaron Donald is probably the best player in the entire National Football League today, that means that the Rams are going to be short when Aaron Donald’s reps rightfully demand the max for their client.
Way short.
Cooks is merely a top 15 WR…at best…when Drew Brees or Tom Brady is throwing him the ball. In short, Cooks is debatably unproven in some football senses.
Right now, Aaron Donald has got to be just thinking to himself: “What these Rams want from a DT?” (**DMX & Sisqo Voice**)
P.S. the Rams still have to pay Jared Goff, and Todd Gurley, and Marcus Peters pretty soon here too…
