Let’s start with Elway’s quotes from today August 16th, 2018.
“Colin had his chance here. We offered him a contract. He didn’t take it. So, As I said it in my deposition, I don’t know if i’ll be legally able to say this, but he’s had his chance to be here. He passed it”
This information without context would lead one to believe that Kaepernick turned down a contract from the Denver Broncos at some point.
Here are the facts.
FACT: The trade rumors for Colin Kaepernick started in April 2016, months before training camp and his protest against police brutality and racial injustice. At this point of his career, Kaepernick was a Super Bowl starting quarterback who had some inconsistent seasons following that Super Bowl start.
FACT: The Broncos didn’t offer Colin Kaepernick a contract, Kaepernick already had a contract with the 49ers for $11.9 million.
FACT: The Broncos were trying to bring Kaepernick in to be their STARTING QB.
FACT: The Broncos did not want to pay the full $11.9 million of Kaepernick’s salary, they only wanted to pay $7 million. They wanted the 49ers to pay it or for Kaepernick to forfeit almost $5 million.
FACT: Both Colin Kaepernick and 49ers declined.
Those are the facts, since that time the Broncos have had average to bad QBs, they have been in need of a legit starter and backup for the last two offseasons and refused to even consider Colin Kaepernick. They brought back Brock Osweiler who truly left them in free agency and welcomed him back with open arms. So, only Kap doesn’t get second chances with Elway.
John Elway like the rest of the owners are blackballing Kaepernick because he knelled against police brutality and racial injustice.
Don’t let Elway distort the facts.
