The front office of the Toronto Raptors is putting a “full court press” on newly acquired former NBA Finals MVP Kawahi Leonard who was traded to them in the offseason. ESPN.com is reporting that the Raptors have hired former San Antonio Spurs staffer Jeremy Castleberry, who just happens to be close friend and former high school and college teammate.
Leonard, who has made it abundantly clear he has no intentions of re-signing with the team, is putting the Raptors in full sell mode with bringing in one of his boys along with the ability to offer a five-year $190 million contract next summer. If Leonard decides to still walk to can still make $141 million on a team of his prefer with available cap space. Leonard seems to have two specific landing places in mind.
So far, Leonard’s preference is to sign in Los Angeles with either the Lakers or Clippers next season, sources told Wojnarowski.
I’m not sure the level of friendship Leonard has with Mr.Castleberry but shout out to Leonard for the inadvertent job hook up. Leonard can (and probably will) test free agency in the summer of 2019.
