NBA superstar Steph Curry is mainly known for his sniper level shooting on the court and the 3 championships his Warriors team have won in the past 4 years. He also spends his time away from the court playing golf.
He recently played in Web.com Ellie Mae Classic over the weekend. Via ESPN Curry decided to lend an assist off the court to Web.com golfer Scott Harrington’s wife who is battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma for a second time. Curry through his foundation donated $25,000 towards their GoFundMe account after learning of the news of her diagnosis during the tournament.
According to PGAtour.com, Harrington did not participate in the tournament due to his wife’s illness but Curry spoke to him and mentions:
“just to let him know how, obviously everybody out here on the Tour, and everybody I’ve talked to that knows him, says so many great things about him and his family, and are thinking about him during the tough time right now.”
This kind act is followed by Curry also taking time to galvanize people to donate to the family of Nia Wilson from Oakland who was brutally stabbed to death by a white man while waiting for the train at a BART station in an unprovoked incident. As per Sports Illustrated, during Curry’s SC30 Showcase in San Francisco, he addressed the crowd in attendance and introduced the family of Nia Wilson and urged the crowd to donate to the family.
The showcase was being streamed via Facebook Live by 78,000 people and according to Sports Illustrated about $21,000 was generated by the end of the showcase.
