It appears that one college football fan played off the fears and concerns of a nation, and likely frightened the hell out of a Georgia Dome employee!
According to ESPN.com, an event staff, working the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday, was slapped in the face by an item containing a powdery substance thrown from the stands.
At least two dozen law enforcement officials, including the Atlanta Police Homeland Security Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, blocked off the area near the south sideline by the Washington Huskies’ bench. They also used a bomb-sniffing dog in the area.
The item was tested for biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear entities, but the results were negative, a Georgia Dome spokesperson told ESPN.
The event staff told police that the substance caused his eyes to burn.
No. 1 Alabama went on to defeat No. 4 Washington 24-7 in one College Football Playoff semifinal.
