This was always the most serious of all of Mayweather’s legal woes.

If he is able to avoid jail time with this for the most part he will be clear and free of the law from the time being.  Here are the details.

Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will reportedly accept a plea bargain to avoid a felony conviction for his alleged role in a 2010 domestic violence episode involving the mother of three of his children, and the children, the Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting on its website Tuesday.

Efforts to reach Mayweather and his representatives were immediately unsuccessful Tuesday afternoon, but the report said Clark County (Nev.) District Attorney David Roger told the newspaper that the boxer on Wednesday morning will plead guilty to one count of battery domestic violence and two counts of harassment, all misdemeanors.

Mayweather, 34, is subject to $3,000 in fines and a jail sentence ranging from two days to 18 months, the newspaper reported.

There is no way Mayweather would take a plea that would put him in jail for 18 months, so expect the sentence to be light.

This could clear the way for a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight since one of the million issues Pacquiao’s camp had was Mayweather’s availability.

With that being said I still won’t hold my breath.

The handicap sticker though?

Still waiting on who will be Mayweather’s opponent on May 5th. Everyone’s wants Pacquiao, but at this point it could be anybody.

When your soul gets taken it is hard to get it back, especially in Boxing.

Mike Tyson, Roy Jones, Ricky Hatton and Paul Williams are just a few that had their soul taken and were never the same afterward.

Miguel Cotto had his soul take by Antonio Margarito three years ago and Cotto probably would have never gotten it back if it wasn’t for Nazim Richardson.

It was Richardson who caught Margarito trying to put cement in his gloves. It is one thing to have your soul taken fair and square, but it is a totally different thing if your soul was taken under false pretense.

Meanwhile Margarito without his cement hands has been an average boxer at best.

Cotto was schooling Margarito in their first fight before something changed the tide, we have no concrete proof that Margarito was cheating, but everyone knows (you see what I did there).

In the 2nd fight Cotto was even more technically sound, boxing beautiful for the majority of the 10 rounds he was in the ring with Margarito.

Margarito had one shot and that was to hope Cotto broke down at the end of the fight, we will never know because Margarito’s eye never gave him a chance.

Cotto correctly targeted the surgically repaired eye and it started swelling as early as the 2nd round.

Margarito didn’t want the fight to be stop, but the fact is it was and Cotto has his revenge and his soul back.

The lesson to be learned?

Cheaters never prosper.

In the aftermath of the controversial Marquez vs. Pacquiao ending was this.

Immediately after the fight Marquez left the ring and did not want to talk to HBO.  HBO always sends Max Kellerman after these guys and Max runs back to the locker room to talk to Marquez.

In their rush to get the interview Marquez forgot to put on clothes.

It was yours truly. Not saying that I am Nostradamus but I was using common sense. You hear the phrase a lot…

“You have to take the belt from the Champion.”

The phrase should be…..

“You have to take the belt if there is a $500 million promotion at stake.”

The official scores were 114-114, 115-113 Pacquiao and 116-112 Pacquiao. I scored it at ringside 115-113 for Marquez.

Pacquiao threw more punches and landed more punches. Marquez had slightly higher connect % and Manny connected with a few more power punches.

On paper it would justify the scoring (the 116-112 score seems off, but I have seen worse), but boxing isn’t about paper and numbers.

It is about rounds.

The rounds were very close, but Marquez in my mind had more CLEAR rounds won than Pacquiao, but the problem is that perception is everything.

Pacquiao is perceived to be a killer and he was throwing punches, so I can see how some of the swing rounds would go to him.

The analogy I use this.

Two equally beautiful woman are available to you, but one you have randomly seen on TV before and one you haven’t you are going to go with the one you seen before.

No one gave Marquez a shot and his performance proved that when it comes to Pacquiao he is his equal. The fight was there for the taking for Marquez and in the last 3 rounds he made a calculated decision.

He could have went all out or he could have keep being technically brilliant hoping the judges would make the proper call, he chose the latter and unfortunately it cost him.

Between the three judges in those 9 combined scores for the last three rounds Marquez only won 3, Pacquiao 6. Take away the 116-112 score Pacquiao won by a combined 2 points on the other two scorecards.

You can do the math.

This was not a pretty victory for Manny Pacquiao and a little of the luster has been taken off his star.  His team did not speak like winners at the press conference. Many people myself include will always think in their three fight Marquez got the better of him (I believe Marquez won the last two).

People are not going to except anymore Mosley & Clottey type of fights from Pacquiao, those days are over. There is one fight and one fight only…………………

Officially Pacquiao weighed in at 143 and Marquez 142, unofficially though and interesting thing took place at the weigh in.  Marquez was definitely bigger than Pacquiao, much more muscular.

I assume Marquez felt he needed to be stronger for this fight at a higher the question will be, if that extra muscle helps or hurts him.

For the record I had Pacquiao winning their 1st fight and Marquez winning their 2nd fight. Without question Marquez gives Pacquiao all types of trouble and if he would have been able to stay on his feet in both their fights he would be sporting a 2-0 record against the Pound for Pound King.

Pacquiao has had a string of fights where not because of a lack of trying hasn’t been very exciting. Many boxers just see Pacquiao as a paycheck, so they fight to survive not win.

That won’t happen with Marquez if he is going to go out he will go out on his shield, but there are just too many factors weighing against him.

1- Age

Can’t fight father time. While I don’t think Manny Pacquiao is at his peek, I think he is closer to it that Marquez. Marquez is now fighting more off intelligence than pure athletic skills. That is enough to get him by younger fighters, but someone as talented as Pacquiao that won’t be enough.

2- Size

Pacquiao truly isn’t a natural welterweight, but he has proven he can still beat down legit welterweights with relative ease. Whatever you believe his team has done to help him keep his speed while improving his power as he moved up in weight is irrelevant, the facts are it works. Marquez is a natural lightweight I thought his best chance to come in at his normal weight which is around 135 and just try to win the way he has always competed with Pacquiao instead he has bulked up and I think it will help him more than hurt him.

3- Pacquiao’s improvements

Pacquiao was good when he fault Marquez in the past, but now he is great. What may have worked in the past for Marquez might not work on Saturday night.

4- Floyd Mayweather Jr.

No way Marquez gets a close decision, not with a Money Mayweather fight hanging out there for Manny Pacquiao. Marquez would have to KO Manny or win a clear decision, neither seems likely.

5- Pacquiao’s focus

Many of Pacquiao’s opponents to be honest, while he has beat them up, he has shown mercy. Mainly because he liked them. Also his motivation hasn’t been that high because honestly he knew the opponents posed little to no threat. When it comes to Marquez he knows he can fight with him and he knows Marquez is capable of beating him. He also wants to put to rest who is the best fighter between them and not leave it up to the judges.

Can Marquez beat Pacquiao? Absolutely, he is the only fighter who has given Pacquiao any problems since Pacquiao lost to Erik Morales in the 1st fight of their trilogy, but I think Marquez time has passed.

He will put on a good show for awhile, but eventually will be stopped.

Trust me I rather have Tyson as the President than Cain. Even though the both seem to have a thing for strong arming women a bit. Maybe Ben Roethlisberger can be the VP.

Immediately after Floyd spoke on Twitter about how he was willing to pay for Joe Frazier’s funeral expenses people started to complain.  The reason that happened is because people like to complain about everything.

You have to understand there is a time and place for that, but when you are discussing someone’s death that isn’t the time.

Regardless of what you think of Mayweather’s motivation, it is a generous offer.  Frazier had hit some hard times late in life, but at least he will have a proper funeral and burial.

I could care less why Mayweather wants to do it, I just care that it is being done to honor a legend like Frazier.

Frazier’s family issued this statement.

RIP Smokin Joe…..

The news of former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier battling liver cancer caught a lot of people by surprise. Particularly his fans.

Frazier was diagnosed last month with the disease and has been in out and out of the hospital since early October and has been receiving hospice treatment the last week.

Doctors haven’t told Frazier how long he has to live but some fans want to do whatever they can to keep him alive; including donating a liver Frazier.

ESPN has the details:

The 67-year-old boxer sleeps for most the day but is coherent when awake, his personal and business manager said. Leslie Wolff, who has been the fighter’s manager for seven years, said Frazier has been flooded with get-well messages from former boxers and fans. Wolff tells The Associated Press some fans have offered to donate a liver.

“There is evidence that there are certain people that fight much harder than other people, and in doing so, they last longer,” Wolff said Monday. “They have the heart of a champion. Joe ain’t no quitter. Even in this struggle, he’s showing people you don’t give up.”

I understand fans are concern about Joe’s health and want to see him survive this cancer. The best thing to do is to just keep him and his family in your prayers and hope for the best.

Boxing has had several black eyes this year (pun intended).

It needed a fight like Kirkland vs. Angulo to remind people what is great about the Sweet Science. Kirkland was literally seconds from his career being relegated to Wednesday Night Fight status (yes I know it has been canceled and that is my point).  After being put down with a picture perfect right hand, Kirkland was holding on for dear life, but that is when Angulo made a fatal mistake.

Roy Jones Jr. warned that Angulo was punching himself out and that is exactly what happened.  Kirkland weathered the storm and scored a late 1st round knock down himself.

Angulo never really recovered, you have to give him credit for taking a severe beating up until the fight was stopped mercifully in the 6th round.

The loss won’t hurt Angulo that much, he was courageous and showed his power can put anyone down.  Once he gets his Visa and immigration issues straightened out he will continue to get meaningful fights.

As far as Kirkland goes he has a chance to get back on the path to Superstardom that he almost lost after spending 2 years in jail on a parole violation.

If he wants to try to cash in immediately he should call out Sergio Martinez. If he was to beat Martinez his name would start to be mentioned with the Pacquiao and Mayweathers of the world.

Considering how his entire career was almost over 30 seconds into the Angulo fight that is an amazing turnaround.

Only in boxing.

Joe Frazier is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time is now in a battle for his life with liver cancer.

Here are the details.

“He’s in serious shape, we’re looking for a miracle,” a source close to Frazier told the New York Post. “They’re only giving him a short time to live. We need to have as many people as possible praying for Joe right now.”

Leslie Wolff, Frazier’s longtime manager, confirmed the report, telling the Associated Press that the 67-year-old former champion was diagnosed four or five weeks ago and is currently receiving hospice care.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Floyd can be a bit sensitive to criticisms.

Some of the criticisms are warranted, other times it just from uneducated people who think they know Boxing, but truly have no idea what they are talking about.

I would put radio host Rude Jude in the latter category, he makes some nonsensical comments that caused Floyd to lose his cool and it lead to this.

Jude was pushing buttons and Mayweather overreacted. He won’t get much sympathy from the general public for pulling the race card. But this is Floyd Mayweather he thrives off being the villain.

I am surprised at the amount of media who doesn’t seem to understand how things work in Boxing.  I have several basically say that Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is a done deal.

That is the farthest thing from the truth.

What Mayweather did was make a preemptive strike in taking control of the negotiations for a potential Pacquiao fight, but that was all it was.  Just because the Money Team said they want Pacquiao doesn’t mean we should all be ready to hop on Southwest Airlines to Vegas.  As I predicted Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum quickly crushed any optimism on a fight being close to being done.

“Listen, we’re not going to consider anything until after the Marquez fight,” Arum said. “The way they are going about it seems like a bizarre way to go about it. If you want to put it together, you meet, you talk. You don’t just come out and say, ‘The fight is May 5 at the MGM.’ What kind of negotiation is that? So I don’t take what they said seriously.

“I think it’s Floyd’s way of trying to grab a little bit of the spotlight away from Manny. I’m not going to get upset. I take it with a grain of salt.”

“I’m not bent out of shape at all,” he said. “For me it’s sort of funny, amusing. It’s noise and it probably helps my Pacquiao-Marquez event. I’m happy with it. It’s out there. But it’s a joke. You don’t negotiate this way. The reason I don’t take it seriously is why make an announcement now? Why now? How do you justify it? What’s the hurry?

“Either they’re just amateurs and not thinking or they thought I would go ballistic. There is some Mickey Mouse agenda. And of course (Golden Boy promoter Richard) Schaefer (whom Mayweather hires to promote his fights) is just a tool. He does what they ask him to do. This isn’t Schaefer thinking it out. He is doing what he is told. They had some kind of reason to do this. Floyd was getting pissed off with all the attention Manny is getting.”

Don’t be fooled Arum is upset even if he is trying to play it cool.

As I have been saying for months, this is more about Mayweather and Arum than Mayweather and Pacquiao.  Mayweather is simply not going to allow Arum to have any power over negotiations and Arum is not going to let Mayweather dictate terms.

So if you book your flight and hotel hoping for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao make sure everything is refundable.

Could it be that Floyd finally is ready to take on Pacquiao? I have said for the last few months that the fight had to happen in May 2012 or it would never happen at all.  Thing were looking bleak, but this announcement gives the fans a glimmer of hope.

If it was to take place it would be the biggest fight financially in Boxing history.  Here are the details.

Mayweather, who knocked out Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17, will make a relatively hasty return: May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com on Wednesday night.

Mayweather’s opponent has not been determined but Ellerbe said, “We’re looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella.”

“We had a discussion, Floyd, me and Al,” Ellerbe said. “Floyd made it very clear to us what he wanted to do. He told us he is looking to make the biggest fight that is out there and to make it in May.”

I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a Pacquiao fight, but Mayweather has made a bold move in securing a date and basically daring Pacquiao to take the fight on his terms.  If Pacquiao beats Juan Manuel Marquez and Mayweather subtly puts pressure on him to take the fight in May and he wavers the court of public opinion may sway back to Mayweather.

If it isn’t Pacquiao, look for Amir Khan to be the opponent.

Oh and lets not forget Miss Jackson.

Manny is buying $300k cars, signing deals to promote Hennessy are we sure he isn’t a little envious of the Mayweather lifestyle?  That is a joke, but I think people are starting to see the almighty dollar is what every athlete is all about deep down.

Truth be told there isn’t much difference in that regard between Manny and Money.  They both make a ton of cash and spend it freely.  Difference is Mayweather does it in a flamboyant way and Manny in an aw shucks type of way.

I bet Pacquiao has never drank Hennessy in his life, but as long as the check clears.

Multi-faceted boxer Manny Pacquiao has landed a spot in another broadly-distributed North American ad campaign, signing a one-year deal to appear on behalf of top-selling Cognac brand Hennessy. Pacquiao will appear in both TV commercials and print ads, which will showcase him in and out of the ring. LVMH Moet Hennessy, the Paris-based luxury goods conglomerate which also includes Louis Vuitton and TAG Hauer, will pay Pacquiao about $1M, a source said. Pacquiao, who earlier this year was the face of the ill-fated Hewlett Packard tablet computer, will do both photo and video shoots for Hennessy in his native Philippines in early December.

Straight cash homie.  I am going to ask him if he drinks Hennessy when I interview him in Vegas.
