Sammy Sosa Admits to Skin Bleaching & I Really Don’t Care Written by: Robert Littal
Sammy decided to show up on Univision and this is what he had to say in a televised interview:
“It’s a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and whitens my skin some,” said the former slugger during the “Primer Impacto” program at the Univision Spanish network.
“It’s a cream that I have, that I use to soften [my skin], but has bleached me some. I’m not a racist, I live my life happily,” said a smiling Sosa during the interview.
Personally if Sammy Sosa was to look like the Latino Skeletor Marc Anthony more power to him.
Normally when people say:
“I’m not a racist”
There is something else behind the story, but to be honest I really don’t care. Last time I checked “bleaching creme” doesn’t makes your fact 10 times lighter, but it gets the “Jamarcus Shrug” from me.
We can just add this to the long list of Sosa’s lies like when he decided he couldn’t speak English in front of Congress after speaking English in interviews for fifteen years.
There are various reasons why people bleach their skin, my theory on Sosa is that he wanted to get a “little” lighter and the doctor who did the procedure went Dr. Nick from The Simpsons on him or maybe A Rod’s cousin did the procedure.
Maybe it will get better or maybe he will turn into Casper the friendly ghost, whatever happens if he wanted to get his name back in the spotlight he accomplished that.

I’m not Sure why Everyone is making such a Big Deal out of this. Some of the Folks who are throwing Salt have had Procedures themselves. What’s the Difference in Sammy S lightening his Skin then someone getting BUTT Implants, BOTOX Shots, Dermabrasion, Skin Peels, Breast Implants , Fake Hair, Fake Nails, Tummy Tucks, Lipo…ETC! People in Glass Houses shouldn’t throw Stones….

It's one thing for a woman to do cosmetic things such as wanting to be lighter, but when men do it, it's just ridiculous and stupid. Men should be proud of their skin tones, no matter the complexion. Hell, in fact, the darker a man is, the more appealing he is across many racial lines . Women of all races prefer a solid dark skinned brotha. As a white woman once told me(I'm a dark brotha), "why would I want a light skinned man if I'm going to date Black men. The whole purpose of me dating a Black man is because I'm not attracted to white men, who have light skin tones. I want my man as black as he can be.".

Good God, what is the big f-ing deal? Don't a lot of white people tan until they look like roasted chickens and no one thinks anything about that. We live in a world where anyone has the right to choose to look how they want to look and it doesn't have anything to do with racism, just feeling good about yourself. People need to get a life.

Great post Michael, but i disagree on certain things. You are saying an example of one white woman. The other side is that there are white women who prefer light-skin brothas as well….Maybe because they wanna get their feet wet, but not too wet…lol…but i understand your point. The media portrays dark-skinned brothas as sex symbols, although i know a lot of light skinned brothas who do just fine. And as Black men, we've all been through the light vs dark skin thing.
