Ron Artest Writes Open Letter To Tiger Woods..Must Read

A lot of people think I am crazy when I say the “Sports World” would be a better place if we had more people like Ron Artest. If we had more athletes who weren’t concerned with their public image and just spoke how they feel. Artest has his faults, but it is his faults that makes him real in my opinion.

Artest has written an open letter to Tiger Woods and all of the fans of Tiger Woods. This isn’t a statement by his agent, his lawyer or his PR team. This is a statement straight from Ron Artest. Some of it may sound familiar since I have been saying the same things for awhile, but maybe coming from a professional athlete it will hold more weight.

I applaud Artest for not worrying about what other people  think, but writing what he felt. If only more athletes had this same courage to be themselves and not hide behind their “fake” image (don’t think too hard you know the players I am talking about).

I hope this makes it to Tiger Woods because it might by the only honest words spoken to him in a very long time.

I want you to read the letter and read it carefully, feel free to give your thoughts:

Dear Tiger,

In reading the statements you have made, I can tell you are a stand up guy. Please remember only Jesus is perfect. You made a mistake and you admitted your infidelity.

I have made the same mistakes. Before I got married to my wife, I had a baby with another young lady, after I already had two by my girlfriend who is now my wife. We also had another baby which makes three for us and four for me. Two boys and two girls.

My wife is a much better wife than I am a husband. We still argue and disagree after being together 16 years. and I still cope with the fact that there are so many women out there and I choose to stay loyal to my wife.

I want to be home every night, but with traveling I can’t, and sometimes I might want to go to a bar or club and be one of the fellas. Most of the time I stay in, because I have my kids and wife.

I cannot sit here and say the thought to have many women has never crossed my mind. If I were Jesus I could.

I have known my wife for 16 years– since I was 14 years old.

She was my first.

On the way to 2010 we had many ups and downs on the way, mostly my fault. But I really choose to work hard and play ball to support her and my kids. The same reason you are building your legacy.

I have been disturbed by this because there are many people who are happy that this bad news has come out.

There are a lot of sports announcers and regular reporters who are not perfect in their own homes, yet they want to bring you down.

You have done so much for people, the sport of golf, and your family and you gave your wife a life that people can’t even dream of.

I thought you were 36 or 37 until I read the news today. A 33-year-old man who has been a model citizen with so much at stake. This is your first publicly known issue since you started your career, compared to my 50 or more publicly known issues and mistakes.

You have been the perfect role model for me and my sons for longer than anyone I have known. With the exception of a few legends.

As your fan, I can’t wait to see you golf again.

And us athletes know how much you personally love your family.

One love,
Ron Artest

This is just a fan mail letter to Tiger Woods fans and indirectly to Tiger himself.

Please, everyone support Tiger in these tough times for his family.

Also if you are a sports announcer or regular everyday reporter or blogger please step up like Tiger and tell your wife or husband if you have any skeletons in your closet. Especially if you were one of the few attacking TIGER!!

One Love People

Hmmm, I agree Tiger has made these terrible mistakes that are no different from many others if it were to come out in the open. I believe he should be able to move on from this. What I fail to see from athletes and supporters is any sympathy or support for his wife. Because it was Tiger who did the deed here, his wife and family seems to have been the forgotten one by everyone. She is struggling just as much from this yet there is only support for Tiger in this letter. That's the sad part of this.

Great read. The temptation is always there for an athlete, but they must remember the chick only wants them for the ca$h and the dudes only want them to say they are friends with them.

Even I am tired or reading & hearing about this now! Where is that story on Pete Carroll and the coed he is living with in Malibu? Oh, wait! There isn't one is there. Why? He is married and the b***h move by the out going Notre Dame coach, who dropped this little nugget on us before departing, was wasn't salacious enough for reporters and (ahem) journalists to comb through his trash, stake out his place to get the dirt and then have it appear on every TV station, newspaper and magazine?

There are a few "differences" between Pete and Tiger but I wonder why the former is being spared? There doesn't need to be proof of being a philanderer to have your name smeared. What gives?

  13. The NFL Chick Says:

Nice job Ron. I love Artest, he is a real dude, like you said. The letter is very conversational, and he's right. Tiger has been a model citizen up until this point. Tiger doesn't owe us an explanation, only his wife and God

  14. skeptical at best Says:

First of all, it was a big story b/c it completely contradicted the image that he has carefully crafted since the 1990s. And, some ppl may disagree with me, but Pete Carroll is not on his way to being considered the best coach in college football ever. That makes a huge difference in how things are covered. Maybe there was a reluctance to investigate the Carroll allegations b/c of the "source" of the information. Weis has no direct relationship with either person. So he's just putting gossip out there and he looked like such a jerk while doing it. So even if what he said was true, all you're focusing on is what a jerk he is for saying that in public. At least that's what I believe.

  15. HoustonDiva Says:

Interesting article. I learned a little more about Artest. Once again he proves you cannot judge a book by the cover. When it comes to Tiger and his issues, he is just another man that was caught with his hands in the cookie jar, or in his case, a factory. I wish him and his family well. Before this I was not deeply involved in the happenings of Tiger, so this latest situation does not make me want to hope on any bandwagon good or bad. People need to cease and deceit the discussion on Tiger like that of McNair. We know he played around, he is not the first, nor the last man to do it. Move on already.

Ron Artest is a class act… Tiger is too big to fail, but he is a Prodigal son that has beehis reason. Whether his wife divorces him, I predict he will be an awesome father, and I also predict that he will be a better person and golfer. While Earl Woods taught Tiger how to dealwith adversity the lessons lost was how to be faithful, as Earl himself committed adultery right in front of Tiger during his young life. Character building comes from learning integrity, truthfulness and how to be humble to the gifts that God has bestowed upon you. God Bless Tiger and his sweet family – and I hope that they become stronger after facing evil straight in the face. [...]SPORTSMAVERICKS SHOW WITH IDA MUORIE http://www.voiceamerica.com...

  20. OprahofSports Says:

God Bless Tiger and his sweet family. Kudos to Ron Artest. Tiger is too big to fail, but the lesson for him to learn is not how to become a better golfer, but a person of integrity, character and humility. Fidelity was not a lesson he learn from Earl Woods, and he will need a better example than Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan. Tony Dungy where are you? [Sportsmavericks Show with Ida Muorie - Angel Says:

Remenber what the Bible said, to all the writer and fams that acused Tiger of this terrible mistakes: IF U ARE NOT GUILTY, TIRA LA PRIMERA PIEDRA. The spanish make u think little nore.

  21. @Cavalette23 Says:

It was cool of Artest to write the letter, however, I don't feel sorry for Tiger or his wife. Tiger should not have been so stupid, thinking those women were so into him. It was all about his money. And he shouldn't have left provocative messages on his girlfriend's phones, since he was a married man. Furthermore, he should not have called them from his personal phone, that his wife had access to. And NEVER let anyone take nude pics/video of you. DUHHHHHH

  22. @Cavalette23 Says:

Tiger had all those women and didn't even know how to cheat…As far as his wife goes, when she married a public icon she should have known that women would through themselves at him–and he would be constantly tempted….She will now get millions, if she seeks divorce–eventhough she has not won any golf tournaments or had any major endorsements…Welcome to the real world Tiger, where a fool and his millions will one day part.

  23. @Cavalette23 Says:

If Tiger wanted to sleep with all those women, then he should have remained unmarried…And if it is true that he spent all of that money on the women, every week, and deposited more into their personal accounts–then he deserves to go broke. If he felt so compelled to cheat, he should have cheated with professional women who had their own money, instead of a bunch of broke opportunists…Stupid is as Stupid does.

  24. golfbrat0369 Says:

I think this letter was Awesome & wish more people would write to Tiger. He has been a roll model & made a mistake… Get over it! We ALL make mistakes. I wrote a comment against one of the news articles condemning Tiger for his actions. It has always amazed me how many people are quick to cast a stone when they too are just as guilty if not guiltier, hypocrisy at its all time best. I am still a great fan Tiger and will continue to watch you play golf and support you. Warmly, golfbrat
