Since the lid has been blown off of Tiger Woods’ seemingly endless harem of women alleging extra marital trysts with the billionaire golfer, the infidelity scandal firestorm surrounding a once squeaky clean image of arguably the most well-known athlete in the world has taken a torpedo hit big enough to sink a fleet of Somali pirate ships! In a recent statement, Tiger apologized to his wife of five years, former Swedish model, Elin Nordegren for his “transgressions” and involvement in embarrassing their family and promised to be a “better man.” The two have since enrolled in what is reported as intensive marriage counseling to salvage their marriage according to the Chicago-Sun Times. Under normal circumstances, this would be stand up thing to do if the reconciliation didn’t reportedly involve a multi-million dollar pay off to the tune of $5 million Tiger Woods is shelling out to his wife to “stay with him.” Does Tiger have Kobe on speed dial?

Granted this isn’t the “Dark Ages” when brides paid grooms dowrys for their arranged marriages however since when does the groom end up coming out of pocket upfront? Apparently, the “cheaper to keep her” rule doesn’t apply here. Reports are buzzing that Elin is furious and both camps are in talks of renegotiating of her pre-nup she signed when the couple tied the knot back in 2004. Originally set for $20 million after 10 years of marriage should they divorce, the new terms outline an increase up to $55 million for a possible total of $75 million and a reduction to 7 years should their “union” wind up before Judge Mabel in ‘Divorce Court.’ The proposed arrangement is in addition to the $5 million upfront currently being transferred into her PERSONAL bank account just to keep Tiger’s last name. The hush money also would involve the blonde bombshell signing a confidentiality agreement preventing her from ever sharing her side of the story.

Whatever happened to money can’t buy you love? If it looks like a business deal, walks like a business deal then it must be a business deal and a shoddy one at that. From Tiger’s legal team ill-advising him to remain quiet instead of nipping the allegations in the bud when the story first broke, the fact that his financial advisers and lawyers aren’t advising him against restructuring a pre-nup that now has him shelling out an additional $40 million has one wondering if they aren’t in cahoots with Mrs. Woods, her “family” that called Tiger out and the whole country of Sweden for disgracing one of their own!

Whether you believe Tiger’s split lip and lacerations to the face were as a result of an intact airbag after ramming into a fire hydrant or Elin teeing off upside his head with a 3 iron for being a “Tiger” in bed with other women is up to you. One thing Tiger is whipped and I don’t mean tired. Tiger’s attempts at repairing a tarnished image are well intentioned though misplaced. Given time, the whole ordeal will blow over. If anything, more people than not would like to see the PGA king return to doing what he does best – playing golf. Its not like Nike and Gatorade are dropping Tiger off in the sand trap in the 18th hole anytime soon. Then again, should Elin take her “woman scorned” show on the road instead of accepting the business arrangement, Tiger’s endorsers could have a “change of heart.”

Either way Tiger will be paying “the cost to the boss.”
