Milledgeville Cops Took Pictures With Ben Roethlisberger Night Of Incident Written by: Robert Littal
A picture surfaced of Ben Roethlisberger with members of the Milledgeville police department the night of the alleged sexual.
Of course you can see how this could be disturbing to the accuser because it appears from the picture and the account on USATODAY.com that the officers were fans of Roethlisberger.
There were five officers in total in the picture. Three were off duty and two were on duty. One of the officers Sergeant Jerry Blash is the one who took the compliant from the victim. Here are more details:
The police chief in Milledgeville, Ga., acknowledged on Friday that some of his officers posed for photos with Ben Roethlisberger on the night the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was later accused of sexual assault. Other than one of the officers filing the initial incident report, the chief said none of them has been involved in the ongoing investigation.
The Union-Recorder of Milledgeville published of photo on Friday of a smiling Roethlisberger with Sgt. Jerry Blash. It reported Blash had photos taken with Roethlisberger inside a local bar and later outside with a group of other officers.
The paper said Blash, an eight-year veteran of the department, was the officer approached by the alleged victim, a 20-year-old college student, and that he was the author of the initial incident report that did not name Roethlisberger.
This case has more twists and turns every day. It doesn’t appear the Milledgeville police department is showing any favoritism toward Roethlisberger and that is very critical. They did the right thing by not allowing any of the officers in the picture on the case, because it is natural to have bias toward someone you like and if Ben was shaking hands and taking pictures with these guys it might be harder for them to believe he is capable of sexual assault.
