Athletes sometimes live in the “Matrix”.
In their imaginary world, they can’t believe people don’t like them. They assume every should “love them”.
If you read The Best of Lebron James Quotes, you know he has a high opinion of himself which is his right, but he is a very sensitive guy.
The latest example of his moistness, was shown on Twitter, where he wanted to show the world how tough it is being him and how people can be so mean. Here is what Bron Bron had to say:
To illustrate that sometimes unpleasant interaction, James took the unusual step of re-tweeting some hateful Twitter messages to his 900,000 followers on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, the Miami Heat star said he did it to show people what he deals with on a daily basis.
James published three negative tweets on his feed including one that was racially charged.
“I just want you guys to see it also,” James said after the Heat’s practice Wednesday afternoon. “To see what type of words that are said toward me and towards us as professional athletes. Everybody thinks it is a bed of roses and it’s not.”
In one message a person wrote that James is “a big nosed big lipped bug eyed (racial slur). Ur greedy, u try to hide ur ghettoness.”
Last month in an interview with CNN, James said that he felt some of the backlash aimed at him after his decision to sign with the Heat was racially based.
In another message James made public he was called a “fraud” and a “bitch” and in another tweet the writer wrote “why don’t u speak by laying ur head under a moving car.”
The messages sent to Lebron are awful, no doubt about it, but if Lebron is grasping for motivation from a few people with “computer courage” and wants us to feel sorry for him, he is delusional.
Lebron has 900k followers. I have 6k followers. I don’t make 100 million, have a big Nike contract or call myself the King, but I get ignorant tweets too. Plenty that are as vicious as what Lebron has received.
You know what I do?
I ignore them.
It comes with the territory of being in the public eye. Any time you do something well, people are going to be salty.
That’s life! It doesn’t matter if you are a NBA star or manager at Fed Ex-Kinkos. People have a crab in the barrell mentality when they see you succeeding and they resort to name calling . One of the easiest routes if you can hide behind your laptop are racial jokes.
All that let’s me know is that I am “winning”, if I am getting that type of reaction.
Did Lebron seriously say:
“It isn’t a bed a roses”
Give me break! If you are so soft that a couple of ignorant tweets get to you, then I am going to start to believe the people that say when things don’t go Lebron’s way he folds.
Because if you are going to fold to “E-Thuggin” how are you going to deal with the Celtics or Lakers?
He and Mo Williams need to go cry a river together.
